A new issue of the magazine "Slovo" has been published in Sakhalin

The issue's theme, published between two significant dates – May 9 and June 22 – was military. The 23rd issue of the magazine "Slovo", a publication of the Central City Library named after O. P. Kuznetsov, combined three historical milestones – the Russo-Japanese War, the Great Patriotic War and the special military operation, its participants, heroes, and eyewitnesses.
One of the most tragic pages of the Great Patriotic War, the 900-day siege of Leningrad, is the subject of the article “Every day I only think about you,” based on the correspondence of the Taushkanov family.
The blockade divided the family: mother Anna Georgievna was in the besieged city the whole time, sons Georgy and Vladimir were evacuated. And all the years of separation they were connected only by letters, full of longing and hope for a meeting.
This year marks 120 years since the end of the Russo-Japanese War, which did not bypass Sakhalin. Local historian Elena Bachinina talks about its heroes and antiheroes in the article "Russo-Japanese War: Time of Feat".
Excerpts from the diary of SVO veteran Yulian Krasavin after his first military deployment have been published.
Much has been written today about how our guys fight, but the individual experience of a recent civilian adapting to frontline conditions is interesting. That is why the focus of the current publication “When We Were at War” is the everyday life of fighters in the trenches.
The interlocutors of “Slovo” were remarkable Sakhalin residents, each of whom has a “life’s work” – maxillofacial and plastic surgeon Anastasia Vtonova, founder of the “Carpentry Workshop” tool museum Viktor Meshcheryakov, and film director Denis Khashba.
In addition, readers will find here an excursion into the history of sports poetry from Boris Khramov, the lyrics of Anna Geta, book reviews, and announcements of new releases from the Sakhalin publishing house "Ostrovnaya Biblioteka".
Today, the magazine "Slovo" is open for publication of works of art and local history materials of Sakhalin authors. Manuscripts are accepted at the address: [email protected]
